Floor markings serve many purposes in industrial workplaces, offices, warehouses, and even hospitals. These markings, which include floor signs, floor marking tape, and floor marking shapes, function as visual cues to convey information about safety and organization. Floor marking tape corners are a widely used floor marking shape. These corners are simple to use and can mark anything from the placement of a pallet in a warehouse to the location of a paper cutter in an office.
What Are Floor Marking Corners?
Floor marking corners are made from the same materials as floor marking tape, which sticks to the floor with an adhesive. Corners, like tape, are designed to hold up to most pedestrian and forklift traffic. They also come in many colors and several patterns to communicate different information related to safety and organization.
Many facilities place corners around the edges of equipment or stacks of materials to indicate where those items should be placed. That way, even when something is removed from an area temporarily, people can tell where it should be returned.

Floor Marking Corners for Compliance & Safety
Floor marking shapes like corners are not specifically required by regulatory and standard-making organizations such as the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). They do, however, help create a workplace that complies with certain safety standards.
OSHA's standard related to walking and working surfaces, 1910.22, states that work areas, walkways, and storage areas must be kept clean and organized to prevent safety hazards.
Using floor marking corners to mark the locations of materials and machinery in a workplace can help prevent clutter and disorganization. This can keep things out of aisles and prevent tripping hazards. In this way, floor marking corners serve as a simple solution to common safety problems.
Achieve 5S Goals with Corners
Floor marking corners can also be used as a tool in a workplace's 5S program. 5S, a systematic approach to workplace organization, originated in Japan and involves following specific steps to assess, organize, clean, and maintain the workplace. Generally, 5S is used as part of Lean manufacturing initiatives and can make waste in work processes more easily visible. Once waste is identified, it can be eliminated.
A large part of 5S is utilizing visual tools to facilitate good organization. Floor marking corners can be one of these 5S markings. For example, if a piece of equipment such as a fan always belongs in a particular place, use corners to mark that location.
Corners can also mark smaller spaces such as desks, counters, or workbenches.
These types of markings keep things where they belong so time isn't spent searching for misplaced items or wondering where something goes.
