Recycling Signs
Encourage everyone to properly
dispose of recyclable materials.
Both companies and individuals alike are taking actions to go green for a more sustainable future. We’ve taken for granted our natural resources and downplayed our effect on the planet for too long, so the time for change is now. A great way to start a green-focused policy is instituting conservation procedures, and for that, you’ll need recycling signs.
Recycling signs are the perfect solution to the simple problem of sorting waste. take a look at Creative Safety Supply's options for eye catching and informative recycling signs below.
The Seven Recycling Symbols
If you look on the bottom of plastic containers each have a number corresponding to the type of plastic. They are as follows:
- PETG or PETE – Also known as polyethylene terephthalate, this plastic is used for soft drink bottles, cooking oil containers, and water bottles. This plastic is often recycled into more containers, carpet, and furniture.
- HDPE – This plastic is known as high-density polyethylene. You’ll see this material being used for milk jugs and cleaning agents. The plastic is recycled into pipes, pens, and more detergent bottles.
- PVC or Vinyl – PVC plastic and polyvinyl chloride can be seen in the form of bubble foils and fruit/vegetable trays from the grocery store. These can be recycled into cables, speed bumps, and even roadway gutters.
- LDPE – Low-density polyethylene comes in the form of plastic such as shopping bags. These plastics can be recycled into floor tiles and shipping envelopes.
- PP – Polypropylene plastic is used in toys, food containers, and even in cars. It can be recycled into darker plastics and used for park benches amongst other items.
- PS – polystyrene is most used in packaging and can be recycled into takeout containers, and egg cartons.
- Other – Acrylic plastics, polycarbonate plastics, and certain fibers, nylon, and fiberglass are included in this category. These are hard to find recycling uses for. Make sure to check with your local recycling program before putting them in the recycling bin.
Not all Plastics are Recyclable
It must be noted that there are some recycling programs that do not accept certain plastics due to the difficultly in recycling them. Make sure to check with your local recycling rules to ensure you are placing the right recyclable materials in your recycling bin.
Prevent Trash from Being Placed in the Recycling Bin
Use recycling signs to prevent trash or glass, which needs its own bin, from making it into the recycling bins. If this does happen, it causes issues with the sorting machinery as well as poses a risk to the workers who deal with recycled material.
Encourage Recycling with Visual Communication
These postings will direct people where to place their recyclable materials and will also act as a reminder for employees and visitors who may not be in the habit of thinking about waste. Recycling signs from Creative Safety Supply are made from durable materials and many feature the recycling symbol or recycle arrows. These notifications, usually posted in kitchens, break rooms, mail rooms, etc., will help transform the way your business thinks about waste. We offer a wide selection of messaging from "Please Recycle" to "Recycle Only" -- while it seems like a very small thing at first, it’s these kinds of impactful actions that will actually change the world.
