materials, locations, or objects.
If your facility has hazards, you need to mark them with hazard signs. Employees need reminders to be able to do their job quickly and effectively. However, those reminders don’t just include process steps; alerting employees of existing hazards can help them do their jobs better.
Shop our selection of pre-made hazard signs and labels below. You’ll find common signs related to electrical safety, machine safety, personal protective equipment, and more.
Environments Where Hazard Signs Should be Used
Hazard signs can and should be used anywhere and everywhere were there are existing hazards that may affect human health. Use them to mark dangerous conditions in the following categories: Physical Hazards, Health Hazards, Environmental Hazards
Management should be aware of all the known hazards within a facility to be able to mark them appropriately for the safety of their workers.
GHS Hazards and the Associated Hazard Symbols
The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals has teamed up with OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard to lay out the rules for not only classifying hazardous chemicals, but also for effectively communicating those details to employees, the public, and emergency personnel.
GHS hazard symbols are a staple for all sorts of hazard signs including pipe markers, for labeling chemical storage bins, and even just regular warning labels. Those symbol categories include, explosive, flammable, oxidizing, corrosive, acute toxicity, hazardous to the environment, health hazard, serious health hazard, and gas under pressure.
Utilizing a simple pictogram gets the information to the person looking at the label quickly. Time is of the essence, especially during chemical emergencies.
Danger, Warning, and Caution signs
Creative Safety supply offers several different hazard signs that include Danger, Warning, and Caution headers. There are several different options for material when choosing one of these signs. Do you need a floor sign? Wall signs? What about heavy-duty adhesive or a static cling option? Whatever you need, we have it to help you keep your workers and visitors safe from harm.
OSHA Compliant Hazard Signs
OSHA requires employers to use hazard signs that comply with the ANSI Z535 standard for safety signs. These signs can mark almost any type of hazard, but many need to have a specific format that uses a signal word, header, text, and pictogram. The signal word will be Danger, Warning, or Caution, depending on the severity of the hazard. Signs also have assigned colors based on the amount of danger present.
